A BLDC fan is an electric motor that uses direct current to rotate an impeller or blade. the name “BLDC” stands for “Brushless DC”. These fans are often used in computer cooling systems because they are more efficient than conventional DC motors.
How Does A BLDC Fan Work?
Brushless DC fans work by using permanent magnets in the moving part of the rotor or motor and electromagnets in the stationary part of the stator or motor. A coil of wire is wound around the stator, which generates a magnetic field when energized. This magnetic field interacts with the magnets in the rotor, causing it to rotate.
The motor consists of a rotor containing permanent magnets and a stator with windings. The magnet is mounted on the rotor and rotates with it. The stator winding is fixed and connected to the power supply.
When the power supply is turned on, current flows through the stator winding and a magnetic field is generated. This magnetic field interacts with the magnetic field of the permanent magnets in the rotor, causing the rotor to rotate. The rotation of the rotor creates airflow, which moves air through the fan blades and into the room.
Brushless DC fans are more efficient than conventional fans because they do not have any brushes that wear out over time. The main advantage of brushless DC fans over other types of motors is that they are more efficient.
